10 things Not to do When Buying a Home

So let's say you find the home of your dreams, your offer is accepted and you're in escrow- which is under contract. Here’s what NOT TO DO! Because over the years I’ve seen & heard of so many buyers who make these crucial mistakes and put their loan at risk and even get disqualified. Im Jessica Tweedy at realm real estate and here to tell you.

1. Don’t change jobs, become self employed or quit your job.

2. Don’t buy a new car, van or truck or you may end up living in it.

3. Don’t use any credit cards or let your accounts fall behind.

4. Don’t spend any money you have set aside for closing.

5. Don’t hide any debts or liabilities from your loan application- they will find out and you could get disqualified.

6. Don’t buy any furniture even if the payment is deferred until after closing- unless it's cash- and it's not your closing or down payment cash!

7. Don’t allow any additional inquiries on your credit except for insurance purposes.

8. Don’t make any large deposits or large withdrawals without first checking with your lender!

9. Don’t change bank accounts. Period.

10. Don’t co-sign on a loan for anyone, no matter what and be sure to tell your lender if you already are a cosigner for anyone, that debt counts as YOUR debt.

So! I hope to have given you a better understanding of how you can keep from any risk of getting disqualified once we find you the home of your dreams! Give me a call and I’ll be sure to keep you informed and on the best path to homeownership before and throughout your home buying process, all the way to the closing table!
